May this blog serve as a reminder to the NeoNix of the Pisay and Ateneo, in hopes that lessons may be learned from her (mis)adventures.

A rather unfortunate series of events.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

My luck seemed to have failed me time again, as I found myself having to deal with the triple deadly dose of me locking my keys inside the cabinet, spilling juice on my Asus EEE and me having my cellphone stolen. YES, my old cellphone with the black and white screen (more like green and black, but anyway) GOT STOLEN. In marikina. Without my knowledge. Which..... you know, is better than getting threatened to give the guy the phone, but........ STILL. That phone held sentimental value, I'll have you know!

These things never and I mean NEVER, happen to me. They just don't. I've had years of cellphone care under my belt (btw, i didn't even remove the plastic on my /former/ phone) and I had THIS happen to me. It only happened while I was in Manila.

Now I don't know if this is a sign... a warning.. foreshadowing, if you will. But the fact that I'M HERE and I can't change my lot at will is something the cosmos has to consider.

Firsts

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Last week was my first week in Manila... and in ADMU as well. The week I'm in @ the moment is the first week of class. And... wow. I love my schedule!!

I still have to wake up early, although not as early as I used to in Pisay. My earliest class on MWFs is Fil 11, and that would be at 7:30am. On TThs, I have PE (Wushu) as my first class at 8am. After (almost) every subject, I get an hour long break (read: time to nap, take a bath [only on PE days], run to the dorm to grab anything I forgot, and/or cram) which comes in pretty handy!

And this schedule is GREAT, considering that my last class ends @ 1:30pm for MWs, and 3:30 for Fs, and 3:00 for Tths. Wee!

A definite PLUS when you're a CS major: 2 hour sessions twice a week in a computer lab (read: AIRCON) Whoo.

A definite MINUS when studying in the Ateneo (or in Manila, in general) is that everything costs WAY more. Like food. It's about P60, average. For one meal. (Although it's probably several levels higher than canteen food.

Another thing that costs a lot: books. Only now do I realize how lucky we were (and downright nuts) using books that cost THOUSANDS (the same books you find on the floor... or stepped on.. etc.). Isa pa, computer books cost a LOT. (WTH) The book our prof recommended was worth around 1.4k. UMAYGAD. I think I should negotiate if the java book(s) I own are already enough...

I'm still pondering on whether or not should I subscribe to dorm internet. It's 3k per sem.. and my roommates mentioned that it's fast. The only problem is that it's LAN. Like, cable based. And like, my corner is FAR from the network (slot? port? whatever). Wah. I can't visualize kung saan ko idadaan ang network cable. I settled for letting it pass under the beds, but it was still so very messy. I do believe I'll have to tape them down.T_T

The campus, however, has WIFI. Like, everywhere. The trouble is, I (so far) I can only connect to the WIFI at the (zen) garden. It's right across the campus cafeteria. Good, right? Except for the fact that upperclassmen use the place as their HANGOUT, everything is spiffy. T_T

In other news, I'm sorely missing the net. And davao. And my home (where I can slack off, haha). The Eliazo dorm (although pretty) needs a lot of getting used to.

WHEW. Wish me luck!

oRsEM 2008

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Neonix's log, stardate 5.30.08

I. Hate. Air. Travel.

Okay,so airplanes are cool. Very cool. I like the fact that PAL put a camera in front of the plane... and I was like “oooohhh” when it took off. The ride was smooth... hardly any turbulence... it was quite ok, actually.

Then we began our initial descent. And then... UMAYGAD sumakit ang left ear ko! It felt like someone was drilling a hole into it or something. GEEZ. Working my jaws hardly helped. My dad urged me to drink some orange juice (ick) to ease the pain... then things took a turn for the worse: MY STOMACH WAS ACTING UP!

And guess what? When we landed, the first thing I looked for was the restroom. There, I blew chunks. Good thing the flight attendant was nice enough to give me 3 souvenir sick bags (rather fetching ones, I must say) to hurl my guts into. UGH.

Not to mention the fact that we arrived at around 1:12AM since our flight got delayed. And so you can imagine me resisting the urge to BARF as we drove towards Cavite (I will be staying there until June 1 or 2). Time of arrival? 2AM.

Naturally, I woke up LATE (9:30 AM... omg). On that day, we went to Ocean Park (OMNOMNOM FISH)... Luneta...MOA.. damnit its HUGE... So grabe. Kapoy kaayo. Will shop for stuff tomorrow.

Neonix's log, stardate 5.31.08

MOA again. This time, we shopped for.. dorm stuff. and groceries. And did I mention I got a laptop? Well, I did! A shiny new ASUS EEE 900 white PC. I'm using it to type this blog entry. :D I named it Shiko. <3

Nag IMAX rin kami. (FISH OMNOMNOM) tapos... PYROLYMPICS! YAY! Sayang lang at hindi ako nka attend sa MANGAHOLIX event sa SMX. (Ayan kasi... ang tagal mkabili ng laptop.) Oh well. there will always be more (anime)cons in manila I guess.. oH well...
