May this blog serve as a reminder to the NeoNix of the Pisay and Ateneo, in hopes that lessons may be learned from her (mis)adventures.

OhMyGehd. Lull week.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

I opened my multiply last week, and what did I see on my Inbox?

"Lull Week 2009"

O_O

What's infinitely sad is the fact that it took me more than a few minutes to register what that meant. I even felt the urge to consider its existence in this universe.

I mean really, this month was HELL in the sense that the average Ateneo student had to comply with requirements from almost EVERY subject (some more than others) which deadlines fell on the same week. We had projects, presentations, PAPERS, PAPERSES, and long tests to worry about. Add finals to the list. o.o I've been one busy hermit.

MyGehd. I miss Lull week.

Lull week, (or null week as geeks such as myself would call it) is this week after exams wherein the teachers would be busy computing grades, returning papers and lab reports, and checking exam sheets. The students are then left with nothing to do except rot around campus. :)

If I remember right, ACM (Academic Council meeting) will be held the next Tuesday after exams... General Cleaning would soon follow... And everybody would be pulling board games, card games, or anythinggoesgames out of nowhere.

Millionaire's Game. Pictionary. Domino. MONOPOLY. Chess. Dama. Sci-Dama. Scrabble. CHINESE CHECKERS ON A CHESSBOARD!! Lol. Nung mejo naging hi-tech ang world, we had Little Bombers Returns.

And what am I doing now?

.........writing a 2 pages single spaced synthesis for lit. Irwin. Ikaw ang may pakana nitoooooooo! :))

Anyways. I'm excited for Oca's Night. LOL. SEMI-FORMAL hahahaha!!

Good luck to us, R23!

That night of magical transformation.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

...that. THAT was one of the BEST nights out I've ever had.

As all of you might know, I managed to get Ballroom Dancing for my PE (well, now you know, at least. XP). I'm in Ma'am Kimpo's class -- that's recreational ballroom dancing for you! As such, for the last days of our PE class, we had a DANCE PARTY with the other class.

It was at Savanna Moon. Libis. Right across Eastwood. o.o We wound up there because Kublai's (the usual party place) was under renovation. :| So no buffet dinner. aw.

That aside, I had sooooooo much fun last night. :D

Preparations always come before the party; and preparations involved nails, hair and makeup. o.o Super crammed. Hahaha. I started my preparations at around 5 --and to think that we were supposed to be ready by six! We left at around six-thirty I believe...... o.o I sincerely apologize, Jed, Leland, Jotham and Kevin! >< style="font-style: italic;">transformed.. in a sense.. haha. THANK YOU SO MUCH GIRLS! Funny... I only looked at the mirror twice or thrice during that whole session, so YES, I never really knew how funky I looked when I left in a hurry. But it all worked out well, so meh. :) I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to

  • Karina - for the makeup. :)
  • Kara - for the awesome curls.
  • Lisa - [for directing. LOL] and for your shoes.
  • Kaye - for nail polish!
  • Kim - for being my secretary/alalay. XD Sorry about that.
  • Eliazoans in general for giving me their moral support! Yaaay! I was a bundle of nerves the whole time. o.o
  • Mamang Taxi Driver - for waiting patiently for us me.
  • Cervinians - see above reason
It was lame the first few moments -- the girls forbid me to use my glasses and so I failed to capture the guys' expressions in full detail (however benta they may be. XD) Hindi ko na natiis sa Savanna Moon - I must put them on, if I want to experience the night in full!

Music. Lights. People. Tugshtugshtugsh. We danced and danced and danced. :) Dinner never came soon enough, and we were always thirsty -- but it was worth it. :D Apparently, some dance instructors used the place to practice with their students. And DAMN they were so good. The elder ones - especially! There was this lady who leaped and twirled quite gracefully -- she was light in her step, and quick on her feet, as the guy who led her did dips, one after the other. The whole class actually whooped and cheered for her -- and with good reason! It is quite rare to see such a sight.

>>>There was a time na nagwala kami ni Panjee sa tabi -- just fangirling at these dancers. :)) IWANTTOBEABLETODANCELIKETHATWHENI'MOLDER. ^___^

Our repetoire of learned dances were quickly exhausted -- there's only so much you can do with a few fixed steps. o.o To compensate, the crowd formed a circle and... I dunno, did their stuff! :)) Tugshtugshtugsh. Basta un. I cannot explain it otherwise.

>>LOLOLOLOLOLOL @ Bisaya people. LOL talaga. :D

It is sad to admit that I started to get bored with the usual routines. ><>>>KIM! Only now do I fully understand the true joy of choreographing. WHERE HAVE I BEEN ALL THESE YEARS? (Although I can't choreo to save my life, it's still prettyfreakinFUNandAWESOME to do. :D )

That's true dancing.. for me, at least. Sure there were blooper moments -- but hey, that makes it so much more fun. ^__^ And what does it matter, anyway? :)) Last night was my first night to ever experience that dancing-in-the-spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. And.. oh how I loved it. In terms of dancing, this Ballroom night totally blew my JS Proms out of the water. I know now that I love to dance... and it is that thing in parties that I would probably look out for.

Kaya.. I am SUPERDUPERMEGAULTRATHANKYOU grateful for that opportunity. Last night was a blast. The P350 was so worth it. I have ABSOLUTELY NO REGRETS ABOUT HAVING BALLROOM DANCING AS MY PE. Ya hear?! :D

..no wonder I waltzed in the room, giggling like mad as if someone blasted me with happy gas (Nitrous Oxide if you must know~) straight to the face. I mean, really. My feet were dead, and I could hardly walk, and I was in constant pain...

But I sure as hell was euphoric!

LOVE. Just.. LOVE.

So guys... if you have any pictures (or if you know anyone who has pictures) of that AWESOMELYFABULOUS night, please do not hesitate to tell me! Actually.. I IMPLORE of you to send me links to those magical images.

The night has ended. Back to reality now. Still, I believe that my dreams would still be, and will be lost in that world of dancing, for many nights to come.

The final stretch.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

..or at least its prelude.

It's March. Final month of the school year. The final hellmonth. The time when everything you had to do, but didn't, sneaks up and catches your behind. Not a pretty sight.

I have final shiz to do on every subject. Yes, I realize (only now) that it is to be expected, but really, why does everything have to be done on the last month??

Well, not everything. I thank the heavens for setting the deadline for the ARP (Argumentative Research Paper) around February. The one month between then and now wouldn't make much of a difference -- I'd cram it anyway. :D Regardless, it is one less thing to worry about. Reflection paper na lang ang kulang.

I have another research paper to do for Filipino (the bane of my existence... next to Math). The good thing is, it's by group, so I wouldn't have to worry that much about hunting down obscure Filipino words in a most unwieldy UP dictionary. What's bad about it is the fact that we have group reporting, and... we all know how good my Filipino is.

Lit's fine, I guess. We have this funky presentation on Canto III of Dante's Inferno. Again, yay for groupwork. Shooting starts this week. Bangbang.

For CS, it's another project. A gaming one this time. o.o Oh the joy. Again, I'm not alone on this one (it's by pair) so yay for that.

BALLROOM PARTY THIS FRIDAY YEAH.
....but the culminating event's on Sunday.

I'm starting to not mind the actual finals week so much. I mean. HELLO. 2 exams. Roughly 4 hours of pain, but I think it'll pass quickly.

About the requirements I need to fulfill before I can even think of taking those finals... WELL. That's a whole different ball game.

Stress levels are at an all-time high. I, for one, am getting moodier and crankier by the minute. Apparently, I do need my sleep after all.

In which case, I better hit the sack soon. GoodNight, cruel world.

Braindump.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Time check: 2:26am.

Nagulat na lamang ako when I heard the crackle of a walkie-talkie almost immediately beside me. LOL NOT. Nasa baba pala ung guard ng Cervini. Maybe the night has increased my hearing ability to the extent that I could actually hear stuff like that. I dunno. I wouldn't know.

The night air is cold... but not cold enough. The ceiling fan closest to me is busted. GAH. Static air. Static being not moving. I just might suffocate. I'm bitter and I know it.

My desk is cluttered. I can hardly find my earrings amidst all this junk (wait, why would my earrings be on my desk? o-O) I see 2 water bottles, a deck of cards, receipts, 3 clothespins, 2 handkerchiefs, glue, a coinpurse, a small pile of scratch paper, and a LOT OF WIRES right in front of me. It makes me wonder how I live. At all.

My books have multiplied! Oh dear. I better return Kat's hulagpos, Kim's book, and whatever other stuff I might find which aren't mine. Marami rami rin yun. I'm starting to dread moving day.

My roommates are fast asleep. I'm not. (malamang). It's 2:30am now and there's nothing to be done.

I have work to do at 7:00am in the morning.

There's something wrong here.

..
..
..

I better go and sleep now.

Learnings accumulated over these past few days:

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Taking into account the rapid-fire succession of papers, papers, PAPERS and exams, I could hardly stop and.. er... reflect on everything which I have learned through my experiences. o_O I'm in no condition to write my usual UBERLY long entries, and thus I had to use -ugh- bullet points to organize my thoughts.

  • Sleep is an integral part of the day. I cannot do without it. Then again, I wouldn't be able to finish my Research Paper (first draft) and my two Filipino papers had I taken any. o_O However, my ability to wake up on time (1 and a half hours before the start of the first class of the day) has been seriously affected. Just this week, I woke up at 8:20am - I had a class at 9:00am, and hindi pa ako nakaligo! :)) (Just so you know, I managed to take a bath, grab something to eat and be on time for class. ^__^ ACHIEVEMENT!)

  • Breakfast is an integral part of the day. No amount of oats and cereal and biscuits and milk can compensate for the filling rice (albeit cafe [ yes cafe is an adjective ] ) meal which I used to eat every morning without fail. o_O Service hours and delays in waking up got in the way. Without a proper breakfast, my energy level would drop so drastically that staying alert would be a chore. >_<

  • I LOVE DANCE (forgive the O2 joke). But really, I do. It's great exercise! It's a stress buster! The only downside is the fact that I'm down on Tuesdays and Thursdays. By down, I mean unable to function, which means unable to cram for whatever is it that I'm supposed to submit the next day. But WTH. Ballroom is fun. I learned to love chachacha with it. :D I hope I can learn how to love Samba as well. (GUYS!! PATURO!!)

  • My skills in math and cs are steadily but constantly DECLINING. Gah. Idonotunderstandthestuffanymore. 'Tis sad. 'Tis most sad. I should study some more. Really.

  • My skills in Filipino are GRADUALLY IMPROVING. Gradually. (Thanks to Jed, mostly! :D Woot! You're the best!) Pero ok na un ha, infairness lang gyud to my bisaya accent!

  • ZOMBIE HUNTING FTW.

  • SKIBI TOWER DEFENSE FTW.

  • I now have a total of 3 corner-mates (so bale apat na kami sa corner ko). Aylaahvet. Angluhpeet. Bakit kasi rare ang net dito sa Eliazo! :)) But it FUUN. Really. I don't mind one bit. :D
Grabe. I can't even write a proper blog entry these days. o_O

Ah well. >_<

This is just sad.

STRESS. STRESS.STRESS.

Halp.

It's the good old days once again, when there is never a day without a requirement to be passed.

I haven't blogged in a while, have I? It seems as if I'm too busy to blog these days...

I took two midterm exams just this yesterday afternoon. Math & CS. Nnngh.

Studying DNE.

Stolen from Lian. hehe.

Sabi nila..

"It's not the students fault if they fail in their subjects."

Bakit naman?

Because the year only has 365 days and

when you take these things into consideration:

SUNDAYS: rest day, 52 Sundays in a year. DAYS LEFT: 313

SUMMER: 50 days, mahirap mag-aral pag mainit. DAYS LEFT: 263

SLEEP: we need 8hours everyday=130 days. DAYS LEFT: 141

RELAXATION: 1 hour per day is needed for good health=15 days. DAYS LEFT: 126

FOOD: 3 meals/snack time, 2 hours estimate=30 days. DAYS LEFT: 96

CHITCHAT: Man is a social animal. Let's say 1 hour per day=15days. DAYS LEFT: 81

EXAMS: per year, about 35 exam days. DAYS LEFT: 46

FIESTA/HOLIDAY/DAY FOR RALLYING: 37 days. DAYS LEFT: 9

ILLNESS: Nagkakasakit din naman minsan, so let's say 4 days a year. DAYS LEFT: 5

ORGS: Of course may org acts pa, 4 days for that so 1 DAY LEFT.

And that one day left is for your BIRTHDAY

How can you study at that day when it is your special day, right? DAYS LEFT: 0

So saan mo ngayon isisingit ang pag-aaral?!

Paraphrase. Original Text,

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Intended to be understood by R23ans.

Our everyday reasoning is not governed primarily by the rules of logic or probability calculus, but depends to a surprisingly large extent on what we know, on the way our knowledge is organized in memory and on how such knowledge is evoked. Highly intelligent people, asked to solve a simple problem calling for the use of elementary logic, are likely to behave like dunderheads unless the program is couched in such a way as to trigger networks of knowledge that are organized in logical fashion. Content is of critical importance in deciding whether we think rationally or not whereas in logic exactly the reverse is true; content is supremely unimportant and form is everything.
