Oh the emo-ness of the world cannot compare to what I am feeling right now...
I was reluctant to leave my cozy bed this morning to prepare for the Singapore Scholarship Exam. Effort kasi. And to think that I spent the last few days cramming in the library. Unfortunately, wala atang nag sink in, so patay pa rin ako. Sige lang. I mentally prepared myself for the barrage of INSANELY difficult questions that were sure to appear.
I arrived at around 8:32 am and I found myself wandering aimlessly at the Marco Polo Hotel lobby. Good thing somebody thought about clueless people like me - a sign greeted my eyes: Singapore Scholarship Exam... Level 3, Jade Room 3 & 4. I walked towards the elevator, [considerably calmer] and found Daniel S. and Geno waiting just outside. Whew. So I'm not lost.
The few people already present were cramming. NAks. Good thing Math is after lunch. :D I registered and found my seat number [28]. Wow, 22 out of 33 people pala ang galing sa pisay! ^_^ We were allowed inside the 'examination hall' at around 8:50am. Ka-table ko nga pala si Jan David at si Anne Go. Nasa harap ko si San.
Weeeeeee... ENGLISH! I spent the greater part of my time composing a 350 word essay on the dangers of plastic surgery... I loved the reading comprehension part - PAY-PER-CLICK advertising! Whoohoo! Nainis ako slight sa fill-in-the-blanks... But overall, it was an okay exam. I felt the first signs of hunger at around 10am, however, and by the time the exam ended (11:30am) , I was STARVING!
Me, Arie and Farrah went to Gmall for lunch... There, Arie's dad oh-so-kindly treated us to a KFC bucket meal! Thank you so very much!!! :D I ate more food than Farrah daw... hm. ewan ko ba. Basta I could hardly waddle towards the exit, due to the unnatural amount of food I consumed.
We got back to the hotel at around 12:40pm... people were still cramming. Naki cram nalang ako - malay mo, may makuha pala ako. :D Besides, I totally expected na wala akong ma-answer...
...and what do you know... it REALLY was INSANELY difficult.
You have to answer 4 questions, just like what our sample test told us. Unfortunately, it forgot to mention that there were only 4 questions to choose from, unlike the 5 the sample test made us solve. In short: ANSWER EVERYTHING.
Even worse, our answer sheets booklets resembled empty yellow filler notebooks. The only text you can find within was "Question Number...". In short: SHOW YOUR SOLUTION.
And REALLY worse, out of the 4 questions, it seemed to me that only #s 2 and 3 were written in English. It was something like this..
- Assume that (b/a)^n is insignificant/very small when n = 4, 5, 6... Show that (a+b)^1/3 - (a-b)^1/3 = 3b/2a x a^1/3 [!*&^#$!&$#*]
- You have 7 differently colored shirts. You have a ton of durian fruits. And dice. And chemical engineers. What is the probability of you getting this right?
- Some guy died sometime ago. We found him 2 hours ago when he was 30C [degrees Celsius], but now he's 28C. Ah? We found him at around 8pm... So... when did he die, Detective?
- Cartesian plane Argand Diagram complex numbers integrate y = cos^2c + 3 .......what?????
waa help. -headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk--headdesk-
Only then did I realize that differentiation and integration is so super EASY AND SIMPLE. Only then did I appreciate the piece of cake that our 4th Quarter math exam was. I knew, right then na BUGO AKO SA MATH. WAYNE............... IS LIKE THE SMARTEST EVAR. This......... was HELL. INFERNO. SPARTA. by comparison. WHATDIDIDOTODESERVETHIS???????????/
In compensation, nag pool at nag rooftop kami. We found out na off-limits ang rooftop [kuno, hahaha] but we went there anyway... at natakot kami kasi mag-open na ang elevator...(oh noes, makita tayo ng executive!!) Buti nalang nandoon si Baula. HA! We're saved!!
Tapos nag visit din kami sa ADDU for like 10 minutes. And yes, I managed to get lost in that place in that short period of time. Grabe no? Feel ko nabuang na talaga ako dahil sa Singapore exam.
And to think na may Physics [and Chem, para sa mga special people] pa kami bukas.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

lols. Good thing the nightmare's over eh?
Look, don't take it too hard on yourself. I'm pretty sure there's a shaggy-haired, unkempt kid with a possibly bright future somewhere in India who felt the same way when he took the exam. I'm pretty sure at least one of you dudes who took the exam could get accepted.
