May this blog serve as a reminder to the NeoNix of the Pisay and Ateneo, in hopes that lessons may be learned from her (mis)adventures.

Cooking Mama...

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Or cooking WITH mama...

Is NOTHING like the real thing. o_O

Some of you might wonder what it is that I've been up to these past few days... (others wouldn't wonder at all). It's been a week and a half since I've gotten home and I have... done quite a bit, I suppose. I've been playing StarCraft at a pace [Commander] Drox would've been proud of.. I have finished the Chronicles of Narnia (all SEVEN books - YAY!) Nikki oh-so-kindly lent to me. I visited my HS (see previous blog entry). I still have my Samurai X series to watch (lol tagal na un), the CW10 readings (thanks Ella!) to.. er... READ, and Naruto and Bleach anime to catch up on.

I did accomplish something... amazing last week. I BAKED (with Ate Rica's help - YAY)! Nyahaha. A lot of physical effort is needed - pushing a stylus around a DS screen is NOTHING compared to the actual stuff that you have to do while baking!

MISSION: Bake Chocolate Pixies

Pop these in the oven for 15 minutes...

Yeah.. those look about right... :D

MMMMMM!!

Yay cookies! OM NOM NOM!

Note: At the time of this writing, only 5 cookies are left in the cookie jar tupperware. O_O

There's nothing more I'd like to do
Than to lie down, under the heavens,
And to gaze at the stars with you...

A first GREAT adventure

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

//ANNA! PICTURES!

Isang week na ako dito sa Davao since the beginning of sembreak, and yet it was only today na nag laag ( 'gala' to you tagalog peeps :D ) ako. And what better place to visit here in Davao than my high school?

Philippine Science High School - Southern Mindanao Campus

Beginnings of plans were well underway even before semestral break started. I-we heard rumors that we were to attend/lead/omgwtfbbq the Flag Ceremony on the 20th. As you may (or may not know) Flag Ceremonies in Pisay are INSANELY early (7:00am sharp) solemn events complete with an IceBreaker, Bible Reading, Prayer, National Anthem, Panatang Makabayan, Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan, Pisay Hymn, Attendance Checking, Gulay of the Week, (and the occasional announcement of Contest Winnings our most brilliant (aswang) students have garnered plus a 10-15 minute segment in which our Directress yawyaw's (dada's) about school and life and sometimes a combination of both.

The original idea was that we show up @ 7:00am, on the dot, just in time to watch the morning's proceedings. Anna and Tara had a few ideas of their own (and naturally I got dragged into it) - we were to show up in a college shirt, paired with the Pisay skirt. Bakit? Kasi. Wala lng. Tripping. Social suicide, what have you.

Needless to say, we were late (who on earth gets up early enough to get to school @ 7:00am anyway?) - we arrived just as the assembly ended and the students were going back to their classrooms. It did not, however, stop us from barging in into the academe, and earning thunderous laughs from the teachers and our batchmates who managed to spot us (OMG PISAY SKIRT) and we immediately formed a little circle and swapped stories (right in front of the Registrar's Office). Our get-up earned us several stares (O_O) and more and more laughs as more and more people noticed us. We had to revert to normal clothing, (except Anna, who was wearing short shorts) before we started touring the campus since it was so damn hot and the stares were getting kinda old. :))

Nad door-to-door kami, pausing only when we knew the teacher, and we answered their questions about college and stuff. (Pinapasok pa kami sa Calcium, sa Kamia at sa Diamond! Hahaha) There were several uncomfortable special mentions when it came to the "Saan kayo nag college? " question (UPD kaming lahat... except si Yoni... where on earth did the ADMU people go? T_T) but it was all in good fun and we enjoyed ourselves.

Something worth seeing in Pisay - the gym. Rather, the GYM. There were rooms built where the badminton courts were - rooms which were actually drafting rooms, dance rooms, etc. Due to the low ceilings, and twisty tunnel-like corridors, they bore a strong resemblance to dungeons of the days long past. (side comment: dyan napupunta ang mga na-IR [Incident Report] )

Not only that, ung CR, pang mall na ang dating, may showers na, there were bleachers EVERYWHERE (side comment: Anong point sa paglagay ng napakaraming bleachers kung hindi natin mapupuno?), and there were locker rooms, and HUGE dressing rooms backstage. Hardwood na rin ang Basketball court. Oh diba, chui???

While all this development was going on, however, the students have taken to murdering the grass (not like it's a bad thing, mind you, it's just that mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang pag-apak sa damo sa panahon namin -_-) in the ABD (Area Between Dorms) and the Quad(-rangle).

Something NOT worth seeing in Pisay - our batch Legacy. Our Low-cost, Lovely, Legacy. Rated L for Legacy! (Grabe na gyud ang dili maka-gets. :D )

We went to SM for lunch (YES we stayed in Pisay the whole morning); we ate at Shakey's, specifically. We also found... quite a lot of people there! Haha. (Grabe ang payat ni John S!!) Regrettably, we had to leave for Boyztrek to meet up with Chardi (and perhaps Jan) and so we (Anna, Ella, Juneh and I) bid the others a most tearful goodbye.

The original plan was to head off to People's Park right after, but the rain spoiled our chances of going. (Taligsik/Ambon in Manila usually hailed the arrival of a STORM - we simply forgot that taligsik/ambon in Davao meant... just that, or worst case scenario, mere RAINFALL later in the evening.) Add that to the fact that the guys were nowhere to be found for the first 30minutes of our arrival. :D We opted to hang out in NCCC instead, and there we played Naruto (oh how I missed that) for an hour, before we went our separate ways.

Banga lng gihapon ko sa Naruto. LOL. But who carez. :D

It was a very nostalgic trip. I am so glad I went. SUPER sulit talaga, since I got to see a whole damn lot of people. :D

So guys... when's our next great adventure?!

The following statement is a FACT.
"Hindi nagpapalibak ang Pisay People."
Pisay has special powers. Beware.

Just 5 minutes to go before the day officially starts and my cellphone starts singing. Croak croak it goes, and a steady stream of messages floods my phone, all wishing me a happy birthday.

As soon as I got back from mass, I opened my Yahoo messenger, and lo and behold there were greetings there as well!

Likewise, my guestbook in Multiply was visited by many well wishers.

Bonus points to those who gave me a call on this special day!

Grabe talaga, thanks guys. :D Your greetings were more precious to me than any material gifts anybody could give me. It reminded me that yes - it IS a special day and yes - people remembered. Those few words brought a smile to my lips and lighted that spark in my eyes.

Which is all well and good, considering that I spent the day cooking and baking. :D I totally missed this while I was in the dorm!

The return of one Yoni.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

I'm back!

Back from the realm of silence, of nothingness, of dead internet connections.

Yahoo! Google!

I'm too braindead to whip up anything creative, and so I shall merely narrate the most recent happenings in my kinabuhi:

Finals Week

One of the craziest, yet funnest weeks of my life. My finals were on October 8 and 9, and so I had 4 days to procrastinate study. And so I did.. er... study. It never changed the fact that I PANICKED (ohsoverymuch) during those 4 finals of death and doom. It didn't change the fact that I crammed my final paper for En11 (on a side note, I got a 90 for that paper. :D).

After finals, but still Finals Week

Paaartaaaay!!

Well, not really. But I played more than a FEW games of Starcraft, discovered O2 JAM, went malling... that is, Eastwood City and Megamall.... and I stuffed myself silly with food from Shakeys and Pizza Hut.

Then the packing... OH the packing brings swift death to those who try and attempt it with nary a weapon to fight off the first signs of fatigue.

Davao! Davao! Davao!

Oh dormmates, blockmates, schoolmates and friends from up North (since Davao is in the South), I WILL MISS YOU ALL. See you all next month~!

I'm a bit bored here, but nothing beats the familiarity and the comfort that comes with being at home.

Home is where it's at!

1010 Reasons Why It's Great to be a CS Major!

//1010 base 2.
//bigay ni EJ sa akin. SABAWNESS ahead.

10. It's totally appropriate to carry any number of electronic, battery-operated gadgets in leather cases on your belt.

9. You know the difference between a hacker and a cracker. That's a great tidbit for a cocktail party conversation.

8. You get to run the LAN party.

7. In dating, getting a "no" from a potential date is not necessarily the end, due to conditional statements several elseifs may follow.

6. You get to go to parties with other geeks with free food and soda. Okay, they're called programming contests, but that still counts, right?

5. Free as in beer. Free as in beer.

4. If you're a female in a Comp Sci class, you have a statistically significant possibility of finding one of your classmates attractive, considering almost all the rest are male.

3. In the situation above, your chance of that particular guy liking you back is very high, because you may be the only female.

2. People think Computer Science majors are really smart, can solve problems, and like caffeine. At least one is correct for any given student.

1. After forking, you can freely kill your child (processes) at will.

Soup. Sabaw. Soupsoupsabawsabaw.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Come with me, said Slumber. Come with me, dear child, to the land of dreams
A land where anything is possible
Where the most peculiar things happen
Where you will find things unheard of in your realm.

Sleep is a void. It is an escape.
An escape from the bindings and chains of time.
I merely close my eyes and rest my head
I empty my thoughts
I surrender my body to conform with the shape of the bed
And the portal to dreamland appears before me
I find myself unable to move
Trapped
Confined
Cold
Lost
I try open my eyes and I find out that I could
Everything seemed
Clearer
Brighter
And time has passed me by
I have leaped hours into the future
My mind is still in the past
Or still in my dreams
Did I really wake up?
Am I seeing what's real?
It's still surreal, for everything is still
Clearer
Brighter
I clench my fist
I want to feel my fingernails digging into my skin
Pain. I feel none of it.
I wonder if Slumber has indeed left my side.

I finally wake up.
I blink the last of Sleep away from my eyes.
My head still hurts.
My thoughts still speak of my adventures in dreamland
My body reminds me of reality.
I had jumped through multiple dimensions,
I realize that now.

There's no real escape
I know that now
And yet I still sleep
I still escape to the land of dreams.

There's nothing more I'd like to do
Than to lie down, under the heavens,
And to gaze at the stars with you...
