My English teacher decided to give my class a headache (as if the 3 other papers we have to pass weren't bad enough), and ordered/requested/asked us to write another essay. Here are the rules:
- "My Room" essay must talk about -duh- your room.
- 100-150 words
- maximum of 10 words per sentence
- each form of (to be) verb can only be used twice, max.
- each channel of perception (sight, hearing, etc.) can only be used twice
- no adverbs allowed
I can only hope I brought the piece justice.
My Room
Warm light floods the room. I see blue walls set against a white ceiling. I’m sitting on a chair that is flat and angular. The book in my hands reeks of new paper. I clutch my pen firmly; plastic tube digging into skin. The fan’s whirr distracts me from writing. I slouch as I write. A cold breeze slips in from the windows. The curtains flap aside to make way. Dust bunnies begin to migrate across the floor in droves. My eyelids begin to droop. I slip into bed and my back meets the firm mattress. I rest my head against soft pillows. The whirr becomes soothing instead. I close my eyes, and drift into sleep.
"On clear and peaceful nights like these,
There's nothing more I'd like to do
Than to lie down, under the heavens,
And to gaze at the stars with you...
