May this blog serve as a reminder to the NeoNix of the Pisay and Ateneo, in hopes that lessons may be learned from her (mis)adventures.

Sunset.

This blog entry is hosted on both Blogger and Multiply. Have a look!

Sunsets are romantic. They are beautiful. Have you ever witnessed one? The instance in which day meets night, and the sky is a-flush with orange, indigo, violet, and finally inky black as the moon and stars rule and the sun no longer. In my experience, it is best to watch a sunset when one is by the beach, when ones view is largely unobstructed, and if it is, mountains and hills are the ones responsible, heightening ones experience as the radiant colors of a sunset take effect. One would gaze at the spectacle without end, holding his breath he witnesses its end. Beautiful. There is no other word that could describe the peace and tranquility one can get from merely watching a sunset.

A sunset... in Quezon City is the most depressing thing I have ever seen. However, it's beauty was not tainted in anyway; in fact, it was intensified - its orange was brighter, the rays of light, more distinct. It was as beautiful as any sunset. What makes it so depressing.. is the looming darkness. Buildings, not mountains obstructed the view. And one cannot see the ocean, that body of water whose salty spray brings calmness to ones spirit. Buildings, buildings all around! Their shadows are made even longer by the sunset, bring night even quicker to the denizens below. A feeling of insignificance, a feeling of utter separation from nature can be felt. What of it, you might ask. What of it, if what really matters is the sunset itself?

True, the sunset may have never changed, but its meaning; what it means to be, did.

"On clear and peaceful nights like these,
There's nothing more I'd like to do
Than to lie down, under the heavens,
And to gaze at the stars with you...
